President’s Message: Dr Catherine Fairris

Welcome to the British college of aesthetic medicine’s conference 2023. On behalf of the board and the professional services team, I would like to thank you for your attendance at this years conference and for your continued support of BCAM. This is BCAMS 28th conference, and hopefully it’s biggest to date, with an emphasis on evidence based medicine. The speaker lineup promises to deliver an outstanding educational and business agenda, which we have condensed into one stream.

This year has seen much change both within the board of trustees and also within how we work as BCAM. Through this change, it is our aim to continue to work to provide value to our members. We are providing more educational opportunities than ever. Our coffee mornings have been a huge success and have covered a wide range of topics from CQC registration through to social media and paid marketing. We have run our first study day at the Royal college of GP’s sponsored by Galderma, to bring expert opinion in small group sessions to our members. We have more days planned for the future, we hope to take this project nationally.

BCAM is working more collaboratively with the DoHSC to shape the future of aesthetic medicine. We, along with other stake-holder groups have been involved in meetings to shape the proposed licensing register and further regulation within aesthetics.

We are in the final stages of introducing the second part of our exam, the OSCE. Once rolled out - we will have a more robust process of membership progression and an exam that provides the next step in our ambition for recognition as a speciality in our own right.

As a charity we continue to work to educate the public on the importance of finding a reputable and qualified aesthetic doctor. We have several projects in the pipeline to support this ambition.

BCAM membership has seen strong growth in 2023 and we want to continue that trend with better visibility within Aesthetics. Our ultimate goal is for all aesthetic doctors in the UK to be registered members of BCAM. Together we are far stronger and our voice will be greater.

Finally, as my first year as President draws to a close, I’m very proud of all that has been achieved. I look forward to the second year and to BCAM’s continued success.

Conference Trustee's Message: Dr Sophie Shotter

Welcome to the 2023 British College of Aesthetic Medicine Conference!

This is my second year that I have been involved with the Conference and it’s exciting to be continuing to be at the forefront of education in aesthetic medicine.

This year’s conference promises to be full of expert led education from industry leaders and pioneers, lively panel discussions and of course excellent opportunities to meet up with colleagues and peers.

This year for the first time, we have amalgamated our agenda into one stream to allow all delegates to benefit from the full spectrum of education on offer. With four agendas throughout the day, covering Face & Body, Wellness, Clinic Management and Complications. This will all be held within the Main Hall.

This is the 8th year we have returned to Church House Conference Centre, which is a beautiful venue with excellent catering.

Please use the opportunity to get to know the other delegates at your tables – it’s a great chance to network and to make new connections.

Everyone is welcome at the drinks reception immediately following the event, which is being held in Bishops Partridge Hall. Come and join us for a glass of something delicious and an opportunity to meet friends, old and new.

If you have suggestions for next year’s conference, or would like to speak or contribute in any way, please email us directly at sophie.shotter@bcam.ac.uk or manav.bawa@bcam.ac.uk

Enjoy your day!
